4. Bollywood film industry
Bollywood is also known as Hindi cinema and Mumbai is its main center. In India, it is the biggest film industry in terms of film production. Bollywood is the second biggest film industry in the world based on the number of tickets sold i.e. 3.6 billion tickets annually, after Hollywood with its almost 5 billion tickets sold per year. It has become one of the largest centers of film production in the world.
Bollywood produces more than 1000 movies every year and sells around 3.2 billion tickets every year worldwide, which makes it bigger than any other industry in India. The Indian movie industry produces almost twice as many films as its Hollywood counterpart, but because there are more people living in India than anywhere else in the world this makes sense.

5. Chinese film industry
With the growth of the Chinese film industry in the past few years, the question is no longer whether the industry will surpass Hollywood but when. The answer? 2022, according to PwC and its Global Entertainment & Media Outlook 2016-2020.
The report predicts that China’s box office will overtake the United States by 2020, with a projected $8.3 billion in returns compared to $7.9 billion for U.S. theaters. By 2022, overall revenue at the Chinese box office will be $17 billion, compared with $13 billion in North America, according to PwC.
PwC attributes this largely to China’s “rapid economic growth and a growing middle class.” It also cites the Chinese government’s commitment to developing more quality films domestically as well as allowing more films from abroad into the country (though it still limits them to 34 per year).
“It’s possible that China could become No. 1 by 2018,” said Chris Puchert, director of communications at Los Angeles-based film marketing firm Trailer Park, which has worked with some of China’s biggest films like Wolf Warrior 2 and Journey to the West: The Demons Strike Back .
